Choosing the Right Course to Study in Lithuania

If you are a student who wants to study abroad in the Republic of Lithuania, then follow the below mentioned steps to choose the right study programme that will provide great educational and cultural experience. 

Step 1: Determine your Desires

Determine what needs and wants must be fulfilled while studying abroad in Lithuania. Know your goals. 
 Get answers to the following questions:
  • Why study abroad in Lithuania?
  • What course/programme you want to study in Lithuania?
  • What do you want to gain from studying a particular course in Lithuania?
  • Do you want to live in a campus accommodation, flat or other accommodation options?
  • Do you want to study language course or some other course?
  • How much the studies will costs in Lithuania?
  • What will be the overall living and study costs in Lithuania? 

Step 2: Start Researching

Once you know the course you want to pursue in Lithuania, start researching about it. Check the institutions offering that particular course, the structure of the course, credit system, curriculum, admission requisites, funding options, etc. Visit the official website of the higher education institutions. Narrow down a list of institutions that fulfils your desires and needs. 
Visit the campus of the narrowed list of institutions and know more about the institution and the study programme.  Ask questions to the faculty and students present at the campus. 

Step 3: Apply Before Deadline

After you have finalized the institution and course, apply!

The general admission requirements for higher education institutions in Lithuania are: 

For Bachelor degree: To gain admittance into the undergraduate degree programme, or integrated studies at the universities in the Republic of Lithuania, students must hold a school leaving certificate/Maturity certificate or its equivalent qualification. 

For Master’s degree: For admittance into the master’s degree programme, students must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. 

For Doctoral (PhD) degree: Students must hold a master’s degree or must have completed integrated studies to gain admission into the doctoral programme.

Step 4: Apply for Visa 

If you’re selected, a confirmation or acceptance letter will be issued. After you receive the letter, apply for visa.

Step 5: Apply for Scholarships

The Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania provide many scholarships for Lithuanian and Baltic studies at the Lithuanian higher education institutions. The Education Exchanges Support Foundation is a national agency that runs many support/scholarship programmes for students who wish to study in Lithuania.  Also, the higher education institutions of Lithuania provide scholarships to local as well as international students.
